I spent a fantastic weekend and not a stitch of sewing got done! I spent the weekend at my oldest daughters house with 6 of my grandkids, 4 daughters, 2 horses, 5 goats (3 of which are babies) 21 chickens, 4 dogs, 3 cats (I feel like I should say and a partridge in a pear tree). It was my son-in-laws birthday and my daughter had planned a getaway. She asked if I would be willing to babysit, of course I said yes. Then asked my other 3 daughters to come help me my reinforcement. What a fun weekend it was. There was lots of laughter, some tears, bruises and kisses and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Of course the kids had to slumber party. We had three air mattresses set up and between those and the 2 couches, everyone had a place to sleep.
Then there were the animals. Do hummingbirds count? One task we were asked to do was get the feeders set up. Which we did, and within a couple hours we already had a pair feeding. I love hummingbirds and set up my feeders every year but I am not as lucky.
Then there’s the baby goats. Oh my gosh! if you’ve never seen a baby goat you are missing out. They are the most fun to watch and play with. They jump around and you can’t help but laugh and smile as you watch them.
All in all, a great weekend, I always love seeing my grandkids and I can’t wait until the next time. Fortunately we’re getting one of them for the long holiday weekend coming up so I only have to wait a few more weeks. I’m lucky enough that one set lives nearby and the other two families we try to see frequently.
