I made this Rail Fence quilt a couple years ago and it sat in the “completed top” pile until this past summer. Melissa of Sew Shabby Quilting did a contest this past summer that every quilt sent in got a drawing ticket for free quilting. I took the opportunity to send in a few of tops. I thought it was a perfect time to move some our of my waiting to be quilted pile. And while I didn’t win the free quilting, I still feel like I won because I had 6 quilts out of my toppers pile! But, guess what, they’re now sitting in the “to be bound” pile 🙂

I had some pink polka dots in my stash that I thought would be perfect for the backing.

The other day I was trying to decide what to give my mom for Christmas and I thought of this fun, pretty, makes-me-think-of-Spring quilt. So, I decided to get this one finished and wrapped in time for Christmas. I love that it just makes me smile when I see it, it truly looks like Spring and what better quilt to finish on the Winter Solstice. It is a super quick and easy pattern and I love the hearts and swirls in the quilting. I know mom will enjoy sitting on her couch with this over her lap. What a great way to look forward to spring while in the midst of winter.
