Pattern: Seeing Stars by Melissa Corry
Fabrics: Vintage Christmas by Bonnie and Camille AND Holly Woods by 3 Sisters

Last week we were supposed to pick out our fabrics, and I did. I selected Vintage Christmas and was all ready to begin. Then, while I was looking for more of the fabric for my background to order, I saw Holly Woods and fell in love. I mean, really, take a look at these fabrics….

I mentioned that I’ve been wanting to make a red, white and blue quilt, is it very obvious that these are supposedly holiday prints? Or could I use this during the summer also? So, I ordered this set also and figured I would decide once I could actually see/feel both fabrics. I got this set a few days ago and fell in love with it. The colors are so rich and beautiful. Hmmm, it’s going to be a tough choice.

Then, Wednesday came and the first set of blocks were published. I started my Vintage Holiday stars and quickly realized I had a problem. I had ordered more of the background that I had chosen, but it hadn’t arrived yet. I made as much as I could. I really need more of that white dot fabric. When is it due to arrive?…..

WHOA!!!! not until the end of the month! well that is NOT going to work! So, of course, I went to plan two, I would ALSO do a quilt with Holly Woods. See how well that worked out? 🙂

Last night I felt like doing a little bit of sewing so cut out all three of the blocks that are on schedule for this week. And managed to get them all sewn together. Here’s the first one I finished. Love it! so started on my second one. I’m liking this one also, so on to #3Uh Oh, not so fond of this one. At this point I realized that I had sewn the wrong outer big star points to the block. I MEANT to sew the outer red to the one with the inner red, and the outer dark blue to the one with the inner light blue. Hmmm, what to do. Do I rip out the two and re-do them? Do I just leave them as they are? Or do I make another large block and use the one I don’t much care for (but it’s not BAD, just not as good) and put it on the back?

So, for now, the three of them are on my design wall and I’m looking at them for a few days while I decide what to do. And, in the meantime I am waiting patiently, ok, not so patiently, for my other background fabric to arrive so I can get caught up on my Vintage Holiday blocks.
